Summary: People spend a surprising amount of time reading and watching random media articles, including about boring topics like personal finance. Yet, most of this is wasted time with little genuinely-useful knowledge acquired.

I don't recommend wasting any more time reading about personal finance than is necessary. Once enlightened about a topic (e.g. why it's usually better to self-insure than buy insurance) there is rarely a need to read another article unless you have a specific, new query to answer.

However, to reach enlightenment about a topic, you will need to actually educate yourself. In this post, I'll collate links to recommended Australian websites. Many of the articles on these websites are worthwhile reading if you need to learn more about that topic (e.g. the hidden traps of credit cards). However, obviously I disagree with elements of any articles that contradict either the specific advice or principles offered on this blog.
